With over 10 years of experience in designing, developing, and implementing distance learning, the CITSIE fellows have worked with clients in academic and industry settings to create innovative learning solutions.  Partners and client groups have included CMR, Mzuzu University in Malawi, Colorado State University, Montana State University, Cornell University, Virginia Department of Transportation, as well as local Virginia Tech initiatives.  CITSIE fellows were recently honored as “Distance Learning Pioneers” by the Institute of Distance and Distributed Learning at Virginia Tech.

Current and past projects include:

  • ITMA and deliver an online Instructional Technology Master's Program (ITMA) that now enrolls over 250 students across the country each semester.
  • Professional Studies Licensure Courses Developed courses for inservice teachers seeking endorsement as secondary school teachers. In the future, courses will be developed for elementary and secondary professional studies requirements as well.
  • Distance Learning Curriculum in Animal Breeding and GeneticsCreate online, graduate-level programming in animal breeding and genetics that may be taken by students at universities and colleges across the United States.
  • Virginia Department of Transportation University Produced courses for VDOT’s Virtual Campus, a web-based learning management system that provides training resources to employees and businesses.
  • CMR: Partnering with the Pharmaceutical Industry Helped the company implement innovative learning strategies and a flexible distance education curriculum to assist healthcare organizations and sales professionals in staying current on critical industry-related advancements.
  • Technology Integration Modules for Teacher Education Developed asynchronous online courses to make technology an integral part of the Teacher Education Program at Virginia Tech.
